Bio
Kevin Karnes was appointed to Chief Operating Officer for the Clerk’s Office in January 2021.
Kevin holds a Master’s Degree in Legal Studies (MLS) from American Public University and a Bachelor’s Degree from Florida Gulf Coast University. He is a 14 year veteran of the Clerk’s office and has held a variety leadership positions managing many projects and legislative changes.
Kevin Ruane was elected to the Lee Board of County Commissioners in November 2020 after serving as
the Mayor of Sanibel for more than a decade. He was voted in as Chair by his peers after being sworn in
as District 1 Commissioner, which is done annually.
